Women's Outpatient Program

“Supporting women in building a healthy life for themselves and their children”

Women who abuse alcohol and other drugs have unique issues. NCADD offers an Outpatient Program that recognizes that recovery for women requires development of life skills, resolution of life issues, goals, values, self-image, independence and empowerment. The program was developed on a time frame of at least 1 year. This allows the women to master skills vital for their recovery, strengthen a support system, increase their ability to financially provide for themselves and their children, practice parenting skills with continued monitoring, increase self-esteem and learn to believe in themselves.

Barriers that make it difficult for women to access treatment and continue with the program are a major commitment of NCADD. Each client is assigned a case manager who identifies the woman’s barriers and assists with resources to enable her to participate in the treatment process. NCADD provides transportation, assists with childcare, eye exams/glasses, clothing, food, psychiatric evaluations and medications on site, and housing. The NCADD staff is highly involved in networking with other service providers within the community, which increases availability of many additional resources that NCADD is unable to directly provide.

The Women's Outpatient Program consists of three levels, each designed to enhance the development of a strong recovery foundation.
